Location: around Tebet train station in Jakarta, and shot between about 4pm and 6pm.

As well as the trains, this area acts as a transport hub with several other different types of transport (local bus and minibus, motorbike taxis, bajaj etc). There are also numerous street food stalls, a rubbish dump, a chess playing club and a group of punks / street kids.

My hope is to take a series of photos featuring as many of these different aspects as possible, without them becoming too messy or confusing.

If you shoot the project as you describe it, it is solely a documentary work. You describe the location and what is happening there, but actually not what you would like to show? Why do you take the pictures there? Is it only because it is busy with people around? Is there anything else what attracts you?

[] Thanks for the input. I shoot there because I quite like the chaos - as with a lot of Jakarta, everything seems to work in spite of the government, rather than because of it. If you'll excuse the cliche, I think my goal is to try and find some order in this chaos. And I suppose I have to ask - what is the difference between documentary and street, and when does one become the other?

[] Good points Alex. I like this shot and think it is street enough and why shouldn't what you propose work? I like shots with character like this one and think that 'smooth', 'uncluttered' ones all the time can become a bit boring.

I like the frame of the open car window - it anchors the image and gives it the kind of 'street' inflection appropriate to S&R

I like the never ending queue of tuk-tuk, vans, and scooters!
